I am currently working on a collaborative project between writers and photographers. The idea is to collect stories or essays, which will then be assigned to select photographers who will visually interpret the piece of writing in the form of a photo essay.
The objective is to challenge both photographer and writer, and to produce a piece which bridges the two mediums, marrying them in a coherent, expressive and enjoyable format.
At this stage, we are having a call out for writers to submit their written pieces: stories, poems or essays. If you are interested, please email submissions to lbrimble@gmail.com. Thank you so very much and we look forward to hearing from you.
Submission Deadline: 14 December 2012.
it's a great idea...but i'm more a photographer than a writer.so if you need help, just ask! :)
ReplyDeleteyes!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds brilliant! I'll have to edit something and email it to you -- most of what I write ends up with an angry rant in the middle about how I can't structure the sentence well enough! It would be interesting to see it the other way round too, with writing inspired by the photograph.
ReplyDeleteHello Libby that. is. a. brilliant idea!!! Ok maybe I will find you a photographer and send you some photos and get you to write a story based on their photo essay? I will be in touch and send you an email this afternoon. Thank you so very much.
Deletesuch a beautiful idea by such an inspirational gal. just found your blog through a mutual favorite. i. am. in. love.

Just came across your blog and I love this idea. Would love to be a part of this. I am actually a photographer but only recently have started writing too.
ReplyDeleteI'm a writer (NOT a photographer in the least lol) I'll see if I can find something good enough to warrant a picture haha! This sounds really cool :) Is there a cut-off date?
ReplyDeleteOOPS, just saw the cut-off date. Ignore that part!!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I want to try to write something. I'm not a professional writer though. Is it okay? I would love to get photos and write about it. debiegraceb@yahoo.com :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sounding project. Do you have a word limit?
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!
ReplyDeleteIs there a word limit and do the piece we submit have to be previously unpublished/not under consideration elsewhere?
hello ema currently it is an open brief. word limit of 300 - 350 words unpublished will be great however it's ok if it's already been published in blogs. thank you so much for your interest.
DeleteThanks!
DeleteOh, and also can the stories be fictional?
I would really really lOve to be a part of the photographer side of this :) xx
ReplyDeleteI'm more into amateur photography but I have a friend who writes and will let her know.
ReplyDeleteHello again Luisa,
ReplyDeleteI've just read the comments - it seems there are a number of photographers who would like to work on this project the other way round.
I'm really happy to collaborate with a photographer - to write a piece inspired by their work.
Have you received any submissions yet?
Just let me know.
Alternatively, I could cook up something for a photographer to interpret..
With warmth,
Lou x
I adore your images

I would like to be a part of this. If the stories/images are published, how will they be protected in terms of copyright?

Christine
